Sugar-free ketchup recipe

Reducing sugar consumption is difficult because it’s hidden in so many foods, including things like Ketchup, tomato sauce and many others that people wouldn’t expect.

Here is a recipe for sugar-free ketchup.

Ingredients

  • Tomato puree (28 oz.)
  • Tomato paste (6 oz.)
  • Olive oil (1 tbsp)
  • Minced clove of garlic (2)
  • Apple cider vinegar (¼ cup)
  • Red wine vinegar (¼ cup)
  • Minced onion (1 tbsp) or onion powder (1tsp)
  • Ground clove (¼ tsp)
  • Oregano (½ tsp)
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Sugar substitute like Swerve (¼ cup or equivalent)

Recipe Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in blender and blend to preference
  2. Test-taste and alter
  3. Can also be prepared in “cooked” version

Cooked-version

  • Saute garlic, low heat, with oil
  • Add chopped onion (1 cup)
  • Add vinegar, salt, preferred sweetener
  • Bring to boil
  • Combine tomato paste and puree
  • Combine oregano and cloves
  • Heat and reduce to desired consistency
  • Blend to desired consistency
